Open Day with annual ‘world of chillies’ workshop, ‘fungusamongus Launch!’ late Autumn volunteering in the gardens, Forest School and Kids Kitchen for families … and the local ‘Feel Good Cafe ‘ team selling lunch, cake and coffee … and a green space to share, learn and be with us.

 

9.45-1 Seasonal Blitz morning: our weekend volunteering opportunity, join us at 9.45 for a 10am-1pm session. We advise sturdy shoes and you are welcome to stay for the Hawkwood monthly Open Day afterwards.

11-1: Kids Kitchen We’re delighted to welcome Claudia back for her engaging morning session geting children to cook up their own seasonal feast .. and eat it together! Places are limited for this and there is a fee to cover costs – book online here, select bookings, then Organiclea.

All afternoon (12 – 3) The Feel Good Cafe will be back offering coffee, cake and delicious locally grown lunch, and our farm stall has Hawkwood produce including salad, jams, pickles, vinegars and herbal teas for sale.

1-1.40 ‘FungusAmongUs’ project launch. Operating at Hawkwood this year; growing mushrooms and creating growing packs for others to do the same. Come hear about the fruits of this new journey and find out how to get involved in your own space and elsewhere.

2-3 World of Chillies workshop. Join Ru and friends for our annual story telling, cultivation sharing, all-glowing workshop, an introduction to the now over 50 varieties of chillies that are grown at Hawkwood (see details here). All welcome to bring your own varieties with their stories too.

3.15 Site tour – learn about the site’s design and growing stories.

12-3 PlayfulLea Forest School – a free drop-in session offering outdoor play and learning for children and families. Come and find out about what Forest School is. We’d be delighted to talk to you about what we do, why this play-based approach is great for children’s confidence, creativity and self-awareness and how you can sign up for weekly child-led adventures at Hawkwood and in Edmonton. Please email hello[at]playfullea.org.uk with the name and age of your children if you plan to attend, so we have an idea of numbers. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
