March Fruit Open Day

Our Spring open day has a fruit focus, with strawberry, rhubarb, currant and berry plants for sale. Find out about all the different forms and varieties of fruit growing on our site, and enjoy the blossom’s promise of fruit to come. There’s also Kids Kitchen and Forest School for families – plenty for all to enjoy.

 

Sunday 25 March, Hawkwood Nursery

9.45-1 Seasonal Blitz morning: our weekend volunteering opportunity, join us at 9.45 for a 10am-1pm session. We advise sturdy shoes and you are welcome to stay for the Hawkwood monthly Open Day afterwards. This month’s focus is on fruit care.

11-1: Kids Kitchen We’re delighted to welcome Claudia back for her engaging morning session getting children to cook up their own seasonal feast .. and eat it together! Places are limited for this and there is a small fee to cover costs – book online here, select bookings, then Organiclea.

All afternoon (12 – 3) Delicious seasonal lunch, cakes, coffee and teas available. Our farm stall has Hawkwood produce, jams, pickles, vinegars and herbal teas for sale. And try out our self-guided tour – download the free app to your phone, or borrow one of our tablets.

All afternoon (12-3) Plant stall with a wide range of fruit plants plus seed and potting compost to get your growing season started.

2 Site Tour with a Fruit Focus – learn about the many different fruit trees and bushes and fruit growing techniques at Hawkwood.

12-2 PlayfulLea Forest School – a free drop-in session offering outdoor play and learning for children and families. Please email hello[at]playfullea.org.uk with the name and age of your children if you plan to attend. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
