A workers' cooperative growing food on London's edge in the Lea Valley

June Open Day

Sunday 25 June is the monthly open day and this time it has a family focus.

We’re delighted to welcome Joe Archer for Kitchen Gardening: Gardening with Children and Chefs.

Joe was a member of OrganicLea’s volunteer gardening team, before going on to work at Chelsea Physic Garden, and now the Kitchen Garden at Kew.  He is the co-author of “The Kew Gardens Children’s Cookbook”, a guide to growing and cooking with children. He will talk about life at Kew; working with celebrity chefs; and the theme of the book, engaging children in gardening and cooking.

After talk and discussion, there will be a family gardening activity and the chance to buy a signed copy of the Cookbook.

In the morning we’re hosting Kids Kitchen for a healthy cooking session for 1-5 year olds, and we have our usual forest school for outdoor learning and play.

In addition: the bees on our site have provided us with the means to make mead – join us for a short talk on looking after bees naturally and how to produce this delicious drink.
