A workers' cooperative growing food on London's edge in the Lea Valley

Colin Tudge visit

February Open Day at Hawkwood with Colin Tudge

Sunday 22 February, 12-4pm

We are very happy to have Colin Tudge, biologist, journalist, zooologist and campaigner, joining us at Organiclea for our February Open Day. Colin is probably best known for his books The Secret Life of Trees, Good Food for Everyone Forever and Why Genes are Not Selfish and People are Nice.  Colin and his wife Ruth now lead the charge with the Campaign for Real Farming and the annual Oxford Real Farming Conference which this year saw over 750 land activists, community food projects and family farmers gather for 2 days of connections and talks as well as talk of ‘enlightened agriculture’.

Colin will join us to talk about his principles of Enlightend Agriculture and how Good food for Everyone Forever is not only necessary but entirely possible. As our Open Day theme this month is tree planting, we will also invite him to share a story or two on trees as part of our regular site tour.

The wonderful Forest School will also be running, providing children of all ages with the opportunity to explore and play in our woodland space.

Plans for the day:

*12noon-4pm: (with a break for lunch): tree planting
* 1pm: lunchtime – bring a packed lunch, teas and coffees available
* 2pm: Colin’s talk
* 3pm: Site tour
*12-3pm (with a break for lunch): Forest School – activities and free play for children of all ages. Children under 6 must be accompanied. Spaces are limited so please email londonforestschool@gmail.com

We look forward to seeing you!
