A workers' cooperative growing food on London's edge in the Lea Valley

November Open Day

This month’s open day focuses on our trees – both the orchard fruit trees we have planted and the beautiful woodland surrounding us.

Over the past five years we have planted more than 200 fruit and nut trees at Hawkwood, as well as protecting the existing established woodland spaces within our site. Our Adopt a Tree Scheme has allowed many different people to support these new trees, helping to preserve traditional fruit varieties and ensure access to local fruit for future generations. There are still some trees to be adopted, if you would like to provide a lasting memorial or gift to a loved one. Come along to the open day to choose a tree or find the details here. The wonderful Forest School will also be running, providing children of all ages with the opportunity to explore and play in our woodland space.

Plans for the day:

*12 noon-4pm (with a break for lunch): ‘Drop-in’ seasonal horticultural activity
*12 noon-4pm: Coffee and cake stall
*1.30pm: Lunch time – bring a packed lunch
*3pm: Site tour
*12-3pm (with a break for lunch): Forest School – activities and free play for children of all ages. Children under 6 must be accompanied. Spaces are limited so please email liz@organiclea.org.uk
Directions to our Hawkwood site here.

We look forward to seeing you!
