Grower Roles
We are recruiting for three grower roles. Details are as follows:
Kitchen Gardener, Royal Docks
Part time, permanent: 3.5 days a week on average
Salary: £15.96/hour
Based at: Royal Docks Academy, E18 and Hawkwood Community Plant Nursery, E4
We are looking for someone to join our workers’ co-operative and support our work – based mainly at the new Royal Docks Kitchen Garden in Newham, E18, with some time at our food growing hub at the Hawkwood Plant Nursery, Chingford, E4.
For the last nine years, we have been developing our Kitchen Gardens Programme. The programme enables skilled organic food growers in London to receive decent pay and conditions on a small acreage, by pairing them with a supportive restaurant that is looking for greater control over the quality and variety of produce.
We have recently been provided with the opportunity to use a one-acre site at a school in Newham, have erected a polytunnel, and will be partnering with Clove Club, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Shoreditch, with whom we have a long-term working relationship.
This role will be supported by an experienced Grower Mentor at OrganicLea, and a one day per week Seasonal Grower in the main season, so please do not feel you require previous experience of managing a market garden.
We are simultaneously recruiting for this role and the roles of Seasonal Grower at both Royal Docks and at the Wolves Lane Kitchen Garden, Haringey. Please indicate in your application if you do NOT wish to also be considered for these roles. Please also state whether or not you would consider fulfilling this role as part of a job share.
