A workers' cooperative growing food on London's edge in the Lea Valley

Two Job Opportunities: Infrastructure Worker and Food Growing Network Organiser

Community and Infrastructure Worker (3 days/week)

We are looking for a new Community and Infrastructure Worker.
This person will support the maintenance of our “soft landscape” of grassland, meadows, hedgerows, and woodlands, and the ‘hard’ landscape of paved area around the glasshouse; support the upkeep of the building and glasshouse; and ensure tools and machinery are in good working order. This worker will also manage the construction of off-site infrastructure at our community growing sites and box scheme collection points in Waltham Forest and adjoining boroughs.

This is a varied role working as part of the infrastructure team within the OrganicLea cooperative, where we help build sustainable livelihoods for farmers and local growers, part of our mission to reimagine an equitable food system.

More detailed tasks and responsibilities, and the skills and qualities we are seeking, are set out in the role description.

Please send completed applications to shannon@organiclea.org.uk.

Deadline for applying is 12pm Wednesday 10 January 2024.

Food Growing Network Organiser (3-4 days/week)

We are looking for a new Food Growing Network Organiser.

The role holder will work with the community in Waltham Forest to take action towards our vision of a socially and environmentally just food system, in particular by supporting the development of community-led food growing projects via a Food Growing Network; and by bringing people together to take action on food issues.

We are looking for someone to lead this work, and who is excited to engage in the co-running of the Organiclea cooperative. As a workers’ cooperative we seek to take collective control over our work, without the need for separate managers, owners or bosses. As such the role holder needs to be able to work independently and confidently, using the peer-support structures we have available. At the same time this role is very much about listening, connection and collaboration, both with Organiclea colleagues and with community members and organisations

More detailed tasks and responsibilities, and the skills and qualities we are seeking, are set out in the role description.

Please send completed applications to sunniva@organiclea.org.uk.

Deadline for applying is 9am Monday 22 January 2024.
