A workers' cooperative growing food on London's edge in the Lea Valley

July Open Day

Our July open day takes place on Sunday 31 July 2022.

We’re delighted that it will feature a Storytelling Cafe with Stories & Supper and Mbilla Arts including spoken word, poetry, music and storytelling from around the world, free thanks to funding from The National Lottery. More about Mbilla Arts and Stories & Supper below.

The day will also include our usual refreshments, seasonal lunch, a farm stall stocked with fresh and preserved goods, workshops and information and a site tour. Look out for a more detailed timetable here soon.

Open 12-4

Directions to Hawkwood Nursery including bus, rail and river-cycle routes and the way through the woods are here. Parking is available at the site but space is limited so please come by other means if possible.

Mbilla Arts CIC was established in 2006 by Gambian musician Seneke Sillah and arts educator Chantelle Michaux to promote education and performance programmes in African performing arts that provide opportunities for adults and children to develop their creative skills, improve physical and mental health and wellbeing and increase knowledge of African culture and heritage.  We will be delivering African storytelling, music and dance sessions at the Storytelling Cafe at the Organiclea Open Day.

Stories & Supper meet every Saturday in Walthamstow, bringing together refugees, people seeking asylum and local residents over stories and food. We’re excited to take part in the Organiclea July Open Day, and will be bringing stories and poems from our new book, as well as some recent writing.
