A workers' cooperative growing food on London's edge in the Lea Valley

New Woodland Classroom

OrganicLea needs your fundraising support to get our new woodland classroom on the ground.

At Hawkwood Nursery on the edge of Epping Forest in the Lea Valley, North London, we work with individuals, communities, schools and groups offering horticultural training and volunteering in a beautiful 12 acre site, with biodiversity and food growing at its core.

We are experiencing an ever growing demand for nature-based learning and food growing skills, and people travel from all around London to learn and volunteer with us.  To meet this demand, we have decided to build a woodland classroom nestled into the trees on our Hawkwood growing site.  This building will be a roundhouse structure built using organic materials with traditional roundwood timber techniques.

We want it to be a peaceful space for schools, groups, and individuals to experience nature and a place where workshops and events can be run.

We are launching a crowdfunding campaign to raise £38,000.  It goes live on 14  July, with our big push starting at our Open Day on 30 August.

We can’t do it without your support and there are lots of ways in which you can help get this building on the ground…

Become a Pollinator or Ambassador – spread the work about OrganicLea’s new woodland building and the work we do within your networks.  Let them know that we are worth donating to.  If you are not already on our email list sign up here so we can stay in touch, and keep an eye out on social media over the coming months, to retweet, repost our messages and updates.

Donate – our crowdfunder page will be up and running from 14 July, your early donations will build confidence and will help others to follow.  We plan to have some great rewards at the ready!

Keep an eye out for our fundraisers and events – we will be holding vegan supperclubs in the glasshouse in August to fundraise.  More information will be available in July.
