At the end of April members of Organiclea took part in a Landworkers’ Alliance (LWA) action which consisted of a delicious lunch outside the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. A dining table piled high with quality fresh produce from LWA members was used to promote the launch of a new report which highlights the need for small-scale and family farmers to be offered a ‘place at the table’ in upcoming negotiations over the future of UK agriculture policy. Although DEFRA staff were invited to take a place at the table, this was not permitted by the powers-that- be… but staff were certainly aware of the meal and its message as they went for their usual takeaways.
