Think Globally, Create Locally – June Open Day

We’re excited to team up with Mbilla Arts again for a celebration open day with African storytelling, kora and drumming, printing, weaving and more.

The event is the culmination of Mbilla Arts’ Think Globally, Create Locally project workshops using diverse art forms to explore local growing culture and fair food systems in Africa and Latin America.The project is funded by Waltham Forest’s London Borough of Culture Fellowship Funding and is delivered in partnership with Organiclea, Hornbeam Learning Lodge and local artists.

 

10-12.30 Seasonal Blitz morning: our weekend volunteering opportunity, join us at 9.45 for a 10am start. Lunch is provided for those doing the full morning shift.

11-1 Kids Kitchen: children cook up their own seasonal feast .. and eat it together! Places are limited for this and there is a small fee to cover costs – book online here, or find out more first here

12-3 Coffee, cake and delicious locally grown lunch. Plus our farm stall, and plants sale. The last of this growing season’s plant sales, still time to get some plants in the ground!

As always with our open days, the event is free and open to all – no need to book, just turn up.

Directions to Hawkwood Nursery including bus, rail and river-cycle routes and the way through the woods are here. Parking is available at the site but space is limited so please come by other means if possible.
