A social space and a workers co-operative:

Organiclea is a social project - it brings local people together to grow food. The site is an open space with many opportunities to sit and enjoy the wildlife and activity of food growing. The majority of work on site is done by volunteers and we are a local registered voluntary organisation.

We are a not for profit body and registered in 2004 as an officially constituted workers co-operative. Currently, a few of the co-operative members earn a modest income from a day's work. These workers are also committed volunteers and agree to certain obligations as paid workers of the co-op. There is a procedure of application for volunteers wishing to become a member of the co-op.

Co-operative Secondary Rules:

A workers co-operative is a deliberative form of business organisation where activities are managed by the workers, removing the need for managers, owners, bosses or landlords. Organiclea is a non-profit making enterprise. Surplus is distributed within the project, or in support of other co-ops ot not-for-profit organisations with similar aims.

Pedal power:

We run a fleet of bicycle trailers - our main transport from the allotment site in E4 to distribution stalls across the Borough.
