November Open Day

Seeds, saplings and forest foraging: November Open Day at Hawkwood Nursery, Sunday 29 November 12-4pm

This month’s open day has a focus on the woodland around us, with a foraging walk and a hunt for acorns and saplings to create new trees. Meanwhile a seed-saving workshop shares skills in creating new plant life in a different way. Join us for the whole day or just drop in, all welcome.

12-4pm All day coffee, cake and delicious locally grown lunch served, plus a farm stall for buying Hawkwood produce, jams, chutneys, juice and Zapatista coffee. And lLgs for sale for those looking to get a supply of seasoned (1 and 2 years old)  cut wood for winter burners. [£20 for wheelbarrow full, £50 per tonne (dumpy sack)]

12pm Tree hunt family activity: join a drop-in session to find acorns, beechnuts and saplings around the Hawkwood site and turn them into new trees to take home!

12.30pm Seed saving workshop: find out how to create next year’s crop from this one, with a classroom introduction and a practical seed-saving task

2.30pm Site/forest tour: Organiclea’s foraging specialist Ru Kenyon leads a walk with a focus on the edibles you can glean from the local woodland
