Spring lecture, compost and plants

Hawkwood Open Day, Sunday 31 May

This year’s Spring lecture and site-tour comment will be shared with Jojo Tulloh, author of ‘The Modern Peasant: Adventures in City Food’, inspiring in its demand for a more just food system written with poetry and passion for this work that connects people with each other and the land.

12-4pm: Plant sale with gardeners on hand for last-minute seasonal advice and problem solving!
Free compost – bring your sacks, shovels and wheelbarrows provides!
Refreshments available. Anja’s lively coffee, teas and cake stall will be joined by lunch catering from Rosie, our produce coordinator, so you can be sure it will be a a May time market-style feast using fresh produce sourced straight from earth to table.
Farm stall: Hand-picked specials from our Walthamstow and Leytonstone street stalls come to the Open Day!

12-1.30pm: Seasonal horticultural task – the more hands the better for plant after-care and training (could continue into afternoon)

12-3pm: Forest school – activities and free play for children of all ages. Children under 6 must be accompanied. Spaces are limited so please email londonforestschool@gmail.com

2-3.30pm: Spring lecture and site tour with Jojo Tulloh and Organiclea
